Tech Square Idea Store
Media Center for Georgia Tech's New Midtown Campus
Instructor: Michael Gamble, 2008.
The “idea store” is similar to a traditional library but with an emphasis on technology and media. The program includes stacks, classrooms, an auditorium, computer labs, and a cafe. The project occupies approximately 20,000 square feet. The design incorporates a ramped, intensive green roof with large trees reflecting the column grid below. The roof is accessible to the public from street level. The site is a parcel currently used for parking in Tech Square, Georgia Tech’s recent expansion in midtown Atlanta.
Drawings are AutoCAD with Illustrator post-processing, or graphite on vellum.
