Master's Project: The New Gothic

This project explores the potential of a contemporary re-imagination of medieval Gothic ornament (specifically tracery patterns), taking into consideration both the aesthetic characteristics of the ornament and the socio-cultural symbolism of the edifice.  The program consists of several large, vertically oriented office “pods,” all interconnected.  Each pod either houses a government agency or a private firm known to work closely with the government.  The pods are arranged to reflect the interaction between (and co-dependence of) these public and private entities.
