House in Home Park
Instructor: Danny England, Summer 2007.
This three story residence is designed to accommodate two hypothetical unrelated individuals. Both are professional academics with particular programming requirements. The house features two separate apartments on the second and third floors, with a common kitchen and living area on the first level. One occupant requires the ability to set up astronomical instruments, so each residential suite has an outdoor patio. A lap pool is presided over by the bulk of the residential suites. The living area opens directly onto the pool deck. A major design theme is planar tectonic separation. All horizontal structures are reinforced concrete, all transverse vertical structures are glazed, and all longitudinal vertical structures are stacked stone.
All drawings are ink and graphite on vellum.
