Work in progress

In order to familiarize myself with Revit 2011, I have decided to model my parents' house.  This is the day's progress, clay render using Max 2011 and VRay.

Unusual for Autodesk, the new version of Revit has actually improved.  The ribbons are a bit quicker so it feels less clunky than 2010.  The ability to dock the properties panel is a huge plus, although they could still improve the handling of views - the enormous list gets cumbersome.  It would be nice to see them move toward the viewport method employed by most 3D programs.

The rendering plug-in could still use some work as well.  Key features like networked rendering and auto-save are still missing.  The material editor is sparse.  I wonder if there are any plans for a VRay for Revit.  At this point 3DS Max is just a middleman for me, if the VRay material framework was implemented well for Revit, it could be a killer setup.

What is a mushroom made of?

Most foods can be categorized by their nutritional elements.  For example, beef is mostly protein, an apple is mostly sugar and cellulose (as are most vegetables), and a cashew is mostly fat.

What the hell are mushrooms?  They have essentially no nutritional value, except as fiber.  The do not photosynthesize, so it seems unlikely that they could be composed of cellulose (the most common dietary fiber), since it is a carbohydrate.

They taste meaty, so maybe they are protein?

Nope.  They are less than 2% protein. (3g of 156g per serving.)

At least they have a high "fullness factor," so they are a good for you in the sense that eating lots of them should enable weight loss.
